[ Bringing the plates avec sandwiches over to the table. He'll take a seat, opening the bag of chips and taking a handful out. Yes, he has manners. What are you talking about? ]

[studmuffin]

[ Mm. Sandwiches. Stiles happily tucks in to his sandwich and taps his foot under the table, licking mustard from his thumb. ]

I wanted Isaac to steal me a boat but he said no.

[affectioning]

Really. He said no to stealing you a boat. [ Surprising. ] He takes a bite of his sandwich, puts it down and grabs a can of soda. ]

[ Pulling a face. ] Yeah, totally not cool.

[ Opening the tab, the coke lets out a fizzy sound. ] Maybe next pirate curse.

It probably won't repeat itself. I mean the only ones that do are seasonal?

[affectioning]

Like, Christmas curses?

[studmuffin]

Yeah, like mistletoe happens every year. [ A shudder. ]

[affectioning]

... Kissing. [ That's all he says. He picks up his sandwich. Oh, this is totally a delicate way of getting into it. ] Have you and Derek ever kissed? [ Taking a bite. ]

[studmuffin]

[ He literally chokes on his food, swallowing down hastily and looking up at Scott so fast it's like whiplash. ] What?

[affectioning]

[ Question is, is this joking from his complete shock and, how could you ever, or, hey how did you just hit the nail on the head? ] Curses. That's what mistletoe does. You lived with him. It had to have happened?

[studmuffin]

You make leaps in your head that make no sense to anyone else, ever. [ It's not an answer, he knows it's not an answer. But his best friend is a werewolf and he can't lie outright. So he needs to stay calm, to not think about how this is actually the opposite of what he wants.

If he makes him answer, he'll say yes. Curses, right? ]

[affectioning]

[ He evaluates that response and maybe, maybe he listens to Stiles' heart beat. ]

Is it that big of a leap? [ Besides. ] Why would it be a big deal? It's a curse, right?

[studmuffin]

[ Fuck. ]

You had everyone out of the entire City and you chose Derek. [ But there's a way he can get around this, right? ] Yeah, we did. It wasn't a big deal. Christmas was ages ago. [ Blah, blah, black. ]

[affectioning]

[ He considers this, too. ]

Because you're living with him. Accidents happen close to home, right? So, he'll be involved in a lot of curses with you.

[studmuffin]

Yeah? [ He's not lying so his heartbeat, though erratic, just implies his usual level of spazzy. ]

[affectioning]

So, it's not everyone out of the entire City. It was logic. [ A beat. ] So, you wanted to talk in person.

[studmuffin]

[ Guilt twists in his stomach but this is an out and he's taking it. ]

Yeah, there's like, no hard feelings? It's just weird. I'm used to the forest and I'm used to - to being by myself? Nothing's changed. Not between us.

[affectioning]

I know that. [ He does. ] It's cause my mom's here. Isn't it?

[studmuffin]

[ He pulls a face. ]

I can look after myself, y'know? And your mom'll only try to look after me and it'll be weird.

[affectioning]

It won't be weird. [ She always tried to look after him back in Beacon Hills. The answer suffices. Scott's ultimate conclusion doesn't matter in the end. If something is going on - and thanks to his mom, he still suspects there is - it's Stiles' business. And if he confirms it, Scot'll have to lie to his mom. And then his mom will say something to Derek. As far as Scott can tell - and even back in Beacon Hills - Derek has Stiles' back. ] But, I get it. She does, too. She doesn't like it.

[studmuffin]

[ He pauses, then fiddles with his soda can. ]

It's just - your mom is here Scott. I don't think I can ... [ He should just do this. It's not out of an allegiance to Derek, not really. He likes living with Derek but. ] I've been home maybe twice. It feels like I haven't seen my dad in a year even with that. I don't think I can do the whole family thing.

[affectioning]

[ He plays with the table cloth. ]
