"Okay," he says, finally, taking another big bite of sandwich.

He's not hungry anymore, but he does take a big gulp of his soda.

He watches Stiles, hoping he does take a bite of his sandwich soon.

"Stop looking at me like that, bro."

He wants to rewind. He'd even take the weird questions over this stifling feeling of discord.

[affectioning]

"Sorry," he takes a sip himself.

"I didn't mean to get into that."

[studmuffin]

"Yeah."

Toying with the loose thread on his shirt. "I get it, I do. But I've had a lot of time to think about it here."

[affectioning]

"Yeah, I know." He's had a lot of time to do a lot here.

[studmuffin]

Like stressturbate.

"I'm sorry. If I've been kind of ... different."

[affectioning]

"It's okay." But, he doesn't know what else to say to that. "So, nothing's going on?"

[studmuffin]

"Nothing's going on."

By not thinking of it maybe he can trick his own reactions.

[affectioning]

"If something is or does or - you know you can always talk to me."

He'll at least say that.

[studmuffin]

The urge to fidget sinks its teeth into Stiles but he stops himself, flashes Scott a grin he doesn't feel.

"I know."

[affectioning]

"Okay." And then that's that. He'll take another bite of sandwich and hope Scott gets his appetite back.

[studmuffin]

He picks at it, trying to think of something to say. He's not used to this. Even when Scott got bit they were still on the same level.

"Are you still going to study for the SATs? Because we'll forget by the time we go back and that sucks but it feels like I should be doing something."

[affectioning]

"I wanna. You're interested?" Sure, Stiles helped him study over the summer but he'd never seemed inclined to study, himself? "We could go to the library twice a week."

[studmuffin]

Studying disrupts his brain processes. Or maybe the other way around, he's not sure.

"Yeah, if you need a study partner I'm your guy."

[affectioning]

"Yeah, you are," he says, waggling his eyebrows and taking a sip of coke.

[studmuffin]

"Jeez, wine me and dine me first, bro."

[affectioning]

"But, I brought protection. What if I promise to respect you in the morning." This is their friendship. This is what Scott misses. Their ridiculous knowing each other too well non flirtation insanity everyone else judges. Where's this been?

[studmuffin]

Fluttering his eyelashes at Scott.

"I'm not that kind of girl, McCall. I want ice-cream first. Maybe a movie. Then maybe we can get to second base."

[affectioning]

"Maybe?" he asks. "See if I take you to the sockhops and socials." A smirk. "But, second base is tempting."

[studmuffin]

Cupping the front of his shirt.

"Don't forget it."

[affectioning]

"Fine. Ice cream and then a movie but then second base and no excuses," he jokes, holding a finger up like he's deadly serious.

[studmuffin]

"I'll put out, believe me."

He grins though and it's happy for once.

[affectioning]

"You better," meeting his grin with a stern glare. It falls into a smile.
