Do you know there is only one person in the City who knows that Derek is a werewolf? I didn't tell them. I've kept it secret, all of it, for this whole time. Even with the curses. I can keep it from my dad too.

[ He rubs at his temples. ]

What happens? With Lydia? I'm still behind.

[affectioning]

I don't know. We - we thought Ms. Morrell was telling us Lydia was the key to finding Deaton. But, Danny was. His report for Harrison. But, Lydia... she keeps waking up and finding dead bodies.

"It happened again?"

He pauses, drumming his fingers on the table top, "What if this is like Jackson's thing again? How he rejected the bite and became the kanima? It could be left over from what Peter did to her?"

[affectioning]

"It does. There's other stuff, at a motel." He hears that and hasn't had any time to actually think of it. "Maybe. Or, something residual from what Peter did to her after?" He doesn't know. Nobody knows. "But, she's a part of it, now."

"There's a motel? You go to a motel with Lydia Martin?"

Scott, bro. No. "So she's been dragged into our scary world of evil and mayhem. All the more reason not to tell anyone else."

[affectioning]

"No. We all do. Overnight because of a cross-country meet."

This is not the point. "Why? Why is this all the more reason?"

"Because."

He looks away, "I'm tired of people getting hurt."

[affectioning]

"So am I." Of course he is. "But, maybe telling people - your father, maybe Danny - maybe it could keep them from getting hurt."

[studmuffin]

"Neither of them are here right now, so we'll just have to figure it out if they ever turn up."

WHICH WILL BE NEVER.

[affectioning]

"Okay," he says, finally, taking another big bite of sandwich.

[studmuffin]

He's not hungry anymore, but he does take a big gulp of his soda.

[affectioning]

He watches Stiles, hoping he does take a bite of his sandwich soon.

[studmuffin]

"Stop looking at me like that, bro."

He wants to rewind. He'd even take the weird questions over this stifling feeling of discord.

[affectioning]

"Sorry," he takes a sip himself.

"I didn't mean to get into that."

[studmuffin]

"Yeah."

Toying with the loose thread on his shirt. "I get it, I do. But I've had a lot of time to think about it here."

[affectioning]

"Yeah, I know." He's had a lot of time to do a lot here.

[studmuffin]

Like stressturbate.

"I'm sorry. If I've been kind of ... different."

[affectioning]

"It's okay." But, he doesn't know what else to say to that. "So, nothing's going on?"

"Nothing's going on."

By not thinking of it maybe he can trick his own reactions.

[affectioning]

"If something is or does or - you know you can always talk to me."

He'll at least say that.

[studmuffin]

The urge to fidget sinks its teeth into Stiles but he stops himself, flashes Scott a grin he doesn't feel.

"I know."

[affectioning]

"Okay." And then that's that. He'll take another bite of sandwich and hope Scott gets his appetite back.

He picks at it, trying to think of something to say. He's not used to this. Even when Scott got bit they were still on the same level.

"Are you still going to study for the SATs? Because we'll forget by the time we go back and that sucks but it feels like I should be doing something."
