[ He breathes out slowly, holds on to Derek for something close to too long. ]

[He doesn't say anything in reply. He just lets Stiles be there, holding onto him, even though he's never been one for this much touching]

[ Leaning back eventually, his hands still on Derek's sides. ]

You're getting better at this whole people thing.

It's not a new development, Stiles.

[He used to be really good with people, when he was younger. Before everything went to shit]

[ A small smile. ] It suits you. Beneath that angry exterior beats the heart of a helpless romantic.

[A scoff, but Stiles is actually right about that.]

Scott wants me to move in with him and his mom.

[ Fingers curling tighter. ]

[He doesn't sound upset at the prospect, but he doesn't think Stiles really wants it, either.]

[ Guilt curls in his stomach. ] He's my best friend.

[ AND YET. ] But he has his mom. [ And Derek has ... who? Stiles kept rallying against him but now he finds he doesn't want to. ] I'm used to doing my own thing here.

I don't exactly ask everyone to stay with me.

[He rolls his eyes. He didn't actually think Stiles would make it this long]

[ He bites his bottom lip in consideration. ]

[He's quiet, just.

[ Stiles wraps his fingers in Derek's hair and then leans in to kiss him, soft and without any trace of his usual spastic energy. ]

[He deepens that kiss, pulling Stiles close for a moment]
