[He doesn't sound upset at the prospect, but he doesn't think Stiles really wants it, either.]

[ Guilt curls in his stomach. ] He's my best friend.

[ AND YET. ] But he has his mom. [ And Derek has ... who? Stiles kept rallying against him but now he finds he doesn't want to. ] I'm used to doing my own thing here.

You're not chomping at the bit to get rid of me?

[lupusalpha]

I don't exactly ask everyone to stay with me.

[He rolls his eyes. He didn't actually think Stiles would make it this long]

I'm going to kiss you now, okay?

[ He bites his bottom lip in consideration. ]

[He's quiet, just.

[ Stiles wraps his fingers in Derek's hair and then leans in to kiss him, soft and without any trace of his usual spastic energy. ]

[He deepens that kiss, pulling Stiles close for a moment]

Come on.

[The sun is coming up and Derek just sits.]

[ His shoulder presses against Derek's as he watches, pulling his knee up to his chest. ]

Do you get it, Stiles? This will never be pretty.

[studmuffin]

The sunrise? Because plenty of people with emo poetry would disagree with you.

You mean us, right? We're never going to be pretty.

Yeah, that's what I mean.

I don't want pretty. I don't want something perfect. I don't care if it's a clusterfuck from day one, Derek.

[ A sigh, resting his chin on his knee and looking out from the cave opening. ] I just want to feel something. To have one thing that's right.

[lupusalpha]

You just need to know that.

[That it won't be pretty, or perfect, or anything neat.]

[studmuffin]

[ Twisting to look at him. ]

You think I don't know that?

[lupusalpha]

I think you're young.

[studmuffin]

[ He shrugs. ]

I am. But also I've managed to survive our lives so I figure that works in my favour. I like you, you like me. We could die tomorrow, Derek. I don't want to die without trying.

[lupusalpha]

You're not going to die tomorrow.

[studmuffin]

[ Eyeing him. ]

Derek, I want to stay with you. Doesn't that mean anything?
